I apologize for not posting very much this week — I blame my inability to concentrate. I’m currently in this endless negative feedback loop of pain / nausea from the operation: 1) I don’t feel like eating because of the sore throat, 2) I feel nauseated because of Vicodin on an empty stomach, 3) so I take less Vicodin, 4) then, obviously, I’m in more pain.
This is the fifth day after surgery and maybe I’m just more impatient to feel better this time. I want health NOW! There’s so much I could be doing… last night when everyone was gone, I unloaded the dishwasher. When I was lifting the plates into the cupboard I thought: Oh! This is why you’re not supposed to lift your arms over your head for 6 weeks.
One good thing has been that two members of the family have decided they need to camp out on my bed with me. Isn’t this cute — you’d almost think they liked each other. The cat completely hogs the foot of my side of the bed — and she snores. No wonder she’s single
My plans for today will involve someone going to Taco Bell for me. I’ve decided I’ll eat a bean burrito.

Cats always know when you are hurting and want to sleep next to you or on you, depending on how cold they are and how much you hurt. Hang in there (try something other than Vicodin?)
Thanks — I love that they’re both near right now. Actually heat would usually be the thing I’d use besides the Vicodin — but with hot weather, it feels more like punishment than comfort.
