Video: Great news — Romney can release his tax returns now! McCain says Reid is wrong.

Political Wire reports that “Sen. John McCain told Jon Ralston that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is wrong about his assertion that Mitt Romney did not pay taxes for 10 years, saying his team that vetted the presumptive GOP nominee in 2008 found no such thing. Said McCain: “Nothing in his tax returns showed that he did not pay taxes.”"

Good ol’ John McCain has changed his delivery on this issue a bit since his interview about it with Anderson Cooper. But remember that Harry Reid’s source specified FEDERAL taxes. No one is claiming Romney did not pay TAXES (local, state, sales, etc). McCain’s argument is that no one in his team came to him saying Romney paid no taxes… In any case, nothin’ to hide! This should give Mitt some incentive to go ahead and release those returns now. Right?

Watch McCain hem and haw (again) over this issue:

The exchange:

Ralston: ’You’ve seen those tax returns, have you not?’

McCain: ’I have not. My team saw those tax returns….I did not examine every one of those tax returns…. I had a team.’
