After the hate group, Westboro Baptist Church, decided to turn their attention from desecrating fallen soldiers to desecrating the victims in Newtown, CT, Anonymous released private contact information on Fred Phelps Sr, as well as the rest of the group’s membership (all of whom seem to be related).
Salon: Westboro Baptist Church, notorious for picketing the funerals of fallen troops with “God Hates Fags” placards, announced Saturday that they would picket Sandy Hook elementary school, where 20 children and six adults were shot dead Friday. Tweets from the Phelps family suggest they believe the horrors in Connecticut are a punishment from God for gay marriage. Hacker collective Anonymous was swift to respond, releasing private information of Westboro members including email addresses, phone numbers and home addresses.

?since when is hatred an accepted christian teaching?
Hatred isn’t an accepted Christian teaching. The Westboro Baptist Church doesn’t speak for Christ, Christians, or the bible. These are deluded individuals who appear to be attention-whores; they should be ignored. There will always be extremists of every stripe who are troublesome. We can’t ban speech we don’t care for or legitimate demonstrations & protests without jeopardizing freedom of speech, freedom of religious rights, etc. We can, however, protest them, their behavior, and what they are saying, and we should.
WBC exist for one reason only, TO SUE PEOPLE. They show up at funerals and events with their hate messages in order to evoke an emotional response. They try to get people to physically attack them so THEY CAN SUE the person(s). That is their primary source of income. Fred Phelps’s Daughter is also their main lawyer. The only GOD they worship is $$MONEY$$. Please, don’t take my word for it, go look up the numerous law suits the WBC has against organizations and individuals for “compensatory damages”.
Regardless, I applaud ANONYMOUS for their actions. This is not the first time ANONYMOUS has gone after WBC, and it will not be the last. Fred Phelps should have EXPECTED this.
