The week in dead animals

Google is helpfully mapping the recent reports of animal deaths around the world. Are there reasonable, scientific reasons for all of this? Sure, probably. But that won’t stop us from speculating on a possible link to May 21, 2011 or to ETs.   Isn’t that what the Internets are for? : )

Could animal waste from factory farming be the cause of the massive bird / fish deaths in Arkansas?

Maybe one of the reasons for the massive bird / fish deaths over the past few days in Arkansas?

“The 133.8 million broiler chickens, 3.6 million egg-laying hens, 244,700 hogs, 3,800 beef cattle, and nearly 1,500 dairy cows on factory farms in Arkansas produce as much untreated manure as 51 million people — nearly 18 times the population of Arkansas.

Also, livestock are given all kinds of drugs like antibiotics, which can be found in the animals’ waste:

Antibiotics are inserted into animal feed not only because they’re necessary to ward of the diseases endemic in the cramped and unsanitary conditions of concentrated-animal feeding operations (CAFOs); such additives also make animals grow faster.
