And here we come to what is my biggest problem with the libertarian philosophy. If you pay attention, you realize libertarianism elevates property rights above what most sane, rational people would say are inalienable human rights. It’s narcissism elevated to a political philosophy, and no matter how you dress it up, it’s just plain wrong.
Also, it would never work.
Somebody asked me earlier why I have such a problem with Ron Paul. I tried to explain it, but Mr. Paul does a much better job here.
Like son, like father. Rand said the same thing about the Civil Rights Act. What Ron and Rand are arguing (in the year 2011!) is particularly disgusting — that business owners should STILL have the ‘right’ to deny access to their ‘property’ (services / products / employment) to people based on whatever characteristicthat property owner personally dislikes: skin color, gender, handicap.
Is it any surprise that neo-Nazis have provided financial support to both Ron and Rand Paul’s campaigns, support that was not rejected by either?
With WILDLY different reactions from the RWNJs:
This year, that ancient instruction is reflected in the daily headlines as we see modern stories of social transformation and liberation unfolding in the Middle East and North Africa. Against the backdrop of change, we continue to pray for peace between Israel and her neighbors, while reaffirming our enduring commitment to Israel’s security.
Today, in the same region where the story of Exodus took place, Arabs suffering under despotic regimes are seeking their own freedom and self-determination. As Jews in Israel, the Middle East’s only liberal democracy, gather for Passover, we hope for the spread of freedom and peace throughout the region.
Here’s what RWNJs Jim Hoft (Gateway Pundit) and Pam Geller (Atlas Shrugs and the Angriest Woman in the World) had to say about Person A’s message:
Geller: “Ultimate Insult to the Jews on Pesach.” and “wicked, vicious” for praising the “the rise of Islamic annihilationists in Middle East and “how sick [their] soul is” and “hard not to hate this [Person A].”
Hoft: called Person A “tone deaf” for their statement.
Still waiting for Geller and Hoft to comment on Person B’s message…
Protesters march in London against cuts. The turnout is expected to be huge: around a quarter million or more protesters. There are paint bombs and smoke bombs being thrown by protesters outraged at the coalition government’s cuts to the public sector.

Maybe we should send some Teabaggers over there to explain how freedom works best: cut taxes for the wealthy and cut spending on everyone else. Duh?
[...] America was not attacked. ”America” was attacked. And the proxy was New York and Washington, DC. Alaska was not attacked. Alabama was not attacked. Mississippi was not attacked. Arizona was not attacked. Minnesota was not attacked.
I am tired of people using what happened to my city as the basis for their hate. I am tired of people so fundamentally misinterpreting our Constitution and Bill of Rights. I am tired of people turning the word “Muslim” into the word “terrorist.”
We are coming dangerously close to a point in our history where those who died on D-Day and are buried in French soil at Normandy died for naught. Those men saved my dad. Those men defeated a tyrant. Those men died to ensure others could have the freedoms it is so often said we take for granted. It is our duty, our most important job as citizens, to make sure their sacrifice continues to be for the cause of freedom, justice and acceptance.
We need to take a stand. We need to stop this madness. I will fight to protect what America stands for at all costs. If I have to stand in front of that Mosque with a shotgun so young Muslim children can safely pray to their God, I will. We are allowing a scary and dangerous faction to control the course of our society. If it takes force to stop them, then this is what we must do. The stakes are too high. It is time rational people took a stand. It is time Americans took a stand.
