At least the vampires in this movie are realistic and don’t sparkle…
I recently discovered Being Human (BBC version) on Netflix and love it. (I specify the BBC version because apparently there’s an American remake that sucks.) As the title suggests, Being Human is more about what it means to be human than the fact that the three main characters are a vampire, a ghost, and a werewolf.
I’m not a fan of the current vampire genre at all. But Aiden Turner in the cliché role of sexy vampire works and not just because of his pretty face. He does an excellent job with the humor which, I think, would be more difficult for an actor than the smoldering, angry vampire parts.
And, omg, that Irish accent…

Sadly, there seems to be nothing new or creative with zombie stories anymore. However, because I dislike the whole stupid vampire genre right now [Twilight soap opera saga and Sookie Stackhouse / True Blood], BUT I did like Lindqvist’s “Let the Right One In,” I bought his new book yesterday. I have hope that Lindqvist can tell me a new story about zombies.
Regarding the current vampire romance genre, in my opinion vampires should be presented as the monsters they are, like in “30 Days of Night” — and not as sparkly, romantic and sexy potential mates.
Think about it — to survive, vampires must rip open their victims and exsanguinate the body. Sexy? really?
